Pollster on Spitzer scandal

Oswego, New York – At least one public opinion poll out today said a majority of New Yorkers think Governor Spitzer should resign. The poll was conducted by a group of upstate media outlets.

Quinnipiac University's Polling Institute hasn't surveyed New Yorkers about the scandal, but Quinnipiac pollster Maurice Carrol responded to our questions about the Spitzer scandal.

He spoke to WRVO's Chris Ulanowski.

Spitzer apologizes

Oswego, New York – Governor Eliot Spitzer apologized to his family and the public today but did not elaborate on a report that he has been involved in a prostitution ring.

Spitzer made the brief statement at his Manhattan Office. He started by saying for the past nine years, eight as Attorney General, one as Governor, he has tried to uphold a vision of progressive politics that would rebuild New York and create opportunity for all. He said he has worked to bring real change to the state and will continue to do so.

Oswego, New York – Governor Eliot Spitzer has issued a brief statement,apologizing to his family and the public for reported links to a prostitution ring.

The New York Times reported earlier today that Spitzer told senior advisers of his involvement. The 48-year-old Spitzer is married and has three daughters. Details about the prostitution connection are not clear.
