Gay rights group awaits details of same-sex marriage recognition order

Oswego, New York – Governor David Paterson's executive order gives state agencies until June 30th, to report back to him on how they will begin to recognize legal out-of-state gay marriages.

Tax hike on cigarettes goes into effect.

Oswego, New York – Smokers in New York State are now paying the highest cigarette tax in the nation.

The state's tax on a pack of cigarettes has increased from $1.50 to $2.75.

Syracuse Residents Produce More Carbon than Other Areas in New York

Oswego, NY – According to a new study, those who live in the Syracuse metropolitan area produce more carbon per person than any other major city in the state.

The study, released Thursday by the Brookings Institution, ranked cities based on how much carbon was produced per person based on transportation and household energy use.
