Onondaga County going greener by looking at its vehicle fleet

Cong. Buerkle heads federal hearing into abuse of veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A recent federal inquiry revealed that several hundred sexual assaults at Veterans Affairs medical facilities were not property reported.

Slain Deputy to receive funeral with full honors today

UTICA, NY – Thousands of police from departments all over the Northeast will be in Utica this morning.

They will fill the Utica Memorial Auditorium and the street outside it, as a tribute to Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Kurt Wyman.

Wyman died last week during a standoff with a man. The man has been charged with aggravated murder.

After the 11:00 a.m. ceremony inside the auditorium, Wyman's casket will be brought outside for a 21-gun salute.

North Country food pantries get emergency help to cope with rising numbers

WATERTOWN, NY – The city of Watertown this week granted two food pantries' requests for special funding to buy more emergency food aid.

The pantries say they always see more need in summer, when children on free or reduced-price school breakfasts and lunches don't receive those meals.

But WRVO North Country reporter Joanna Richards tells us a slow economy and rising costs means these nonprofit groups are struggling to keep up with increased demand for their services.
