Bethany, or Annie, Palmer starting interning with the WRVO news department in the summer of 2012. She quickly moved from web posts to gathering audio for stories of her own. She's been covering the Oswego area so far, and plans to do more of the same down the road.
The New York State Board of Regents is considering a proposal to create two new education tracks that would better prepare high school students for jobs in the manufacturing and technical sectors. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) says adding these diplomas would help increase graduation rates in New York state as well as bolster the economy.
The youth vote famously played a large role in Barack Obama’s victory in 2008, but one of the big questions of this year’s election is how young voter turnout will compare with that of the previous election. This year, SUNY Oswego is playing its part in helping students register to vote.
