Join WRVO Public Media this April for another in our series of live film screenings. This time we're bringing Alfred Hitchcock's "Shadow of a Doubt" to the Kallet Theater in Pulaski on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available ahead of time, or at the door, and are $5 each.

There are a lot of disabled veterans in central and northern New York who need help getting to and from their medical appointments. WRVO's Mark Lavonier met with volunteers of the Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network based at the VA Hospital in Syracuse to learn more.

With the natural turnover of drivers, the DAV is constantly looking for drivers who can volunteer their time during the week. Currently, the need is greatest in the Oswego and Potsdam areas, though there are openings elsewhere in the 14-county network.

Tap dance may not be the most popular form of dance currently, but you may have thought otherwise if you were in Oswego this week. MacArthur Genius Grant winner Michelle Dorrance's performance of “SOUNDspace” at SUNY Oswego sold out, as did the master class she taught to local young tap dancers at Miss Kelly’s Dance Company. Dorrance is known for her innovation and experimentation. WRVO's Mark Lavonier spoke with Dorrance while she was in Oswego about how she views tap dancing.

We're bringing the golden age of radio to the silver screen once again -- Tuned to Yesterday "At the Movies" presents "Dragnet." The 1954 feature-length film follows "Dragnet" radio and TV series detectives Joe Friday (Jack Webb) and Frank Smith (Ben Alexander) as they investigate the brutal shotgun murder of a crime syndicate member.

For the past month, members of the Oswego community have been rehearsing a historical play based on real events, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the area's involvement in the war of 1812. WRVO's Mark Lavonier met with members of the production team to learn more about the play.

The play "The Great Rope" will be performed inside the grounds of Fort Ontario tonight at 6pm in Oswego.

Loren & Mark

International acoustic guitar duo Loren Barrigar and Mark Mazengarb have been traveling around the state performing dates on WRVO's MemberCard Thank You! Tour. WRVO's Mark Lavonier recently spoke with the award-winning musicians, and asked about their growing fanbase and impact on the region.

If you listen to Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me! on WRVO each Saturday morning, you probably know that tomorrow night… Peter Sagal, Carl Kasell and the rest of the Wait, Wait... crew will beam their show live to movie theaters across the country. It’s the first time the show has been broadcast live across the country. WRVO’s Mark Lavonier had the chance to talk to Peter Sagal and asked him how the live show came about.
