Oswego, NY – On New Year's eve, some 5000 blackbirds fell from the sky in Beebe, AR.

The media took notice-- and so did bird experts. Researcher Kevin McGowan at the Cornell lab of Ornithology says the Arkansas event is unusual.

He talked with WRVO's Joyce Gramza.

McGowan says the incident likely highlights how even innocent human actions can have unintentional negative impacts on the natural world.
