By Skye Rohde

Oswego, NY – A 16-year-old from Syracuse has been recognized for her work fighting global poverty. Yesterday Maura Welch was one of four teen across the country who received a Global Action Award from the nonprofit organization NetAid. Welch has been speaking out against child labor and raising money for children in Third World countries since she attended the Student Conference for Human Rights at the United Nations five years ago.
