Three community health centers in central and northern New York are receiving grants from the federal government as part of the federal health care law.
The Department of Health and Human Services distributed nearly $130 million to health centers nationwide.
The three health centers in central and northern New York that are receiving grants are :
- East Hill Family Medical in Auburn -- $608,333
- Northern Oswego County Health Services in Pulaski -- $379,167
- North Country Children's Clinic in Watertown -- $650,000
Community health centers are meant to provide primary health care services to medically under-served communities and vulnerable populations with limited access to health care, according to HHS.
The Obama administration said the grants will expand health care to additional patients and create new jobs.
The health care law -- called the Affordable Care Act -- funded these grants, and is currently under review by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court is expected to rule on the law's constitutionality by the end of the month.
