Oswego, NY – The New York Times is reporting new developments in Gov. David Paterson's alleged misuse of state police.
According to the Times, the governor directed two state employees to contact the former girlfriend of one of his top aides, who claims the aide assaulted her.
Paterson said he did nothing wrong.
This comes as state lawmakers and the governor return to Albany this week to work on passing the budget.
Paterson said resigning or staying out of budget negotiations is out of the question.
"I find the whole discussion to be very remote from the issues we need to face right now," said Paterson.
The state budget is due from lawmakers and the governor on April 1.
