Oswego, NY – A majority of New Yorkers do not think Governor David Paterson should resign or be forced out of office.
That is according to a new poll from the Siena Research Institute.
However, The results also show the governor has one of his worst job performance ratings.
Almost 20 percent of voters think Paterson is doing an excellent or good job as governor, compared to 80 percent who say only fair or poor.
Siena's Steve Greenberg said it is likely that New Yorkers are unfamiliar with Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch and would rather hang on to Gov. Paterson until the election.
"We know an election is coming up in November, we want Andrew Cuomo to run. We want Andrew Cuomo to win. Maybe the world will turn around come January, but let the guy finish his term right now," said Greenberg.
Cuomo has not announced that he will run for governor, but political observers expect the attorney general to announce his candidacy as soon as next month.
