Onondaga Nation leader discusses the Two-Row Wampum
By Dave Bullard/WRVO
OSWEGO, NY – Monday night at Syracuse Stage, there'll be a discussion about an important piece of history. A leader of the Onondaga Nation and a Cornell professor who has studied the issue for decades will talk about the Two-Row Wampum and the Covenant Chain. Together, they form what was intended to be the backbone of relations between the Iroquois Confederacy and the European settlers who came to their region.
WRVO's Dave Bullard talks with Freda Jacques of the Onondaga Nation, a member of the Turtle Clan, and with Jack Manno, a professor at SUNY-ESF who heads up the yearlong series of public talks on Iroquois issues.
This is the unedited discussion they had, which runs about a half hour.
