Polluted Beaches

By Chris Ulanowski

Oswego, NY – New York public beaches had to be closed just over 1,600 times in 2008 due to high bacteria counts, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council's annual "Beach Water Quality" report.
No beaches in Central New York with the exception of the Pultneyville Mariners Beach in Wayne County were cited as a problem.
As WRVO's Chris Ulanowski reports from Fair Haven State Park in northern Cayuga County on Lake Ontario, protecting your health while out for a swim may depend on how well you stay informed.
