Syracuse, NY – Calling redistricting "the issue" of this and the next legislative session, the Syracuse chapter of the New York State League of Women Voters will hold a public meeting on redistricting this evening.
WRVO's Joyce Gramza reports, they say the issue is vitally important to voters.
The League's Executive Director, Laura Ladd Bierman, and Legislative Director Barbara Bartoletti, will host the meeting, which will feature maps of some of the state's more infamous gerrymandered districts, including "Abe Lincoln Riding a Vacuum Cleaner" and "The Claw."
Tonight's public meeting is scheduled for 7:30 - 9;00 PM at the University United Methodist Church on East Genesee Street.
The population shifts revealed by the 2010 census will mean the loss of two congressional districts in the state.
