Small NY community under national scrutiny for stimulus project

By Chris Ulanowski

Union, NY – The Town of Union qualified for about $578,000 in stimulus funding to help the homeless. The problem, the town doesn't have a homeless problem nor did it apply for the funding. it was doled out under a federal formula. The town will keep the money and direct it to help the town's elderly according to Town of Union Planning Commissioner Paul Nelson. He spoke to WRVO's Chris Ulanowski.

(U-S Senator Thomas Coburn of Oklahoma criticized the stimulus spending as an example of wasteful spending.)
