Steve Levy Continues Campaign

Oswego, NY – Republican candidate for Governor Steve Levy is traveling through the North Country, meeting with party leaders to gain support for his campaign.

The Democrat-turned-Republican Suffolk County Executive was in Fulton Wednesday, meeting with Oswego County Republicans.

He is trying to win party support from members who might be skeptical about his switch.

Levy said his resume should speak louder than his party affiliation.

"The key to this election is going to be who has the proven experience as a tax cutter and someone who can control spending and who has a plan to prevent this state from going in to bankruptcy because that's where we're at," said Levy.

If he wins the GOP primary, Levy said he'll continue to run on his experience against Democratic Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in the General Election.

Levy downplays Cuomo's strong poll numbers and said a good political campaign can change things.

He points to Republican Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts as precedent.
