Thanksgiving Day Specials

We've got quite a few specials this year to get you into the Thanksgiving spirit.

Earth Eats | 10 a.m.

We'll kick off Thanksgiving Day with an hour long special from Earth Eats (a program about local food and sustainable eating that is normally heard each Saturday at 4:30 p.m). Earth Eats Thanksgiving is about real food and green living, a program of planning and preparing a terrific Thanksgiving meal with turkey, other courses, and some vegetarian options.

Host Annie Corrigan and renowned chef Daniel Orr indulge in some fine cooking, and some very foody musical interludes with very special friends.

Turkey Confidential | 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Turkey Confidential is a live, two-hour, call-in program on Thanksgiving Day for public radio listeners across the nation. Help is on the way for Thanksgiving cooks, kitchen helpers and dinner guests on this, the biggest cooking day of the year. Lynne Rossetto Kasper, award-winning host of public radio's national food show The Splendid Table, will be available to answer listener questions throughout the live, two-hour program.

Quickly becoming a Thanksgiving morning tradition, past shows have included everything from a cross-country trucker cooking his Thanksgiving dinner on the manifold to a panicked first-time cook who didn't realize a turkey needs to be thawed. Lynne handles all questions with wit, expertise and laughter.

Special guests include: Marcus Samuelsson, an internationally acclaimed chef behind Red Rooster Harlem, Ginny's Supper Club and American Table Cafe and Bar by Marcus Samuelsson; Rick Bayless, Bravo's Top Chef Master in 2009 and host of Mexico -- One Plate at a Time; Ina Garten, one of the country's most beloved culinary icons, host of Barefoot Contessa, and the author of seven bestselling cookbooks; and Peter Sagal, the host of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me and author of The Book of Vice: Naughty things and How to Do Them.
