Today is primary day in New York state and there are some high profile races to watch.
Three Democrats are vying for the nomination for a Syracuse-area Assembly seat. The 128th District is open because Democrat Sam Roberts left the Assembly for a job in the Cuomo administration.
The city of Watertown's primary is non-partisan, with the candidates for mayor and two city council seats to be narrowed down today.
Other jurisdictions across upstate are also voting in local races.
While New York's primary is normally held on a Tuesday, it was scheduled on a Thursday this year to avoid the Jewish holidays. Polls are open from noon until 9 p.m. today.
