Touring In Scotland, Bob Dylan Buys Bagpipes

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.

If you're one of those who could never stand the sound of Bob Dylan's voice or his harmonica, this news may not thrill you. The truth is, he's one of the great living singer-songwriters, and he played concerts in Scotland. While there, he bought a set of traditional Scottish bagpipes. Scotland's National Piping Center reports that Mr. Dylan does not know how to play, but a spokesperson says he's always wanted to learn, adding: It's a lovely sound, when they're played well. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
