The wife of former Syracuse University basketball coach Bernie Fine is suing ESPN. Laurie Fine accused the sports network of libel in a news conference at a resort in Geneva today.

Fine, flanked by her two daughters, a son-in-law and nephew, told reporters that her life was destroyed after ESPN covered allegations that her husband had sexually abused two ball boys.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has introduced legislation that would require coaches at high schools and universities to report suspected incidents of child sexual abuse. Syracuse Police changes sex abuse policy in the wake of Bernie Fine case

The Syracuse Police Department has changed some policies regarding allegations of sex abuse that come into the department, in the wake of the Bernie Fine investigation.  Fine is the former assistant S-U   Basketball coach who is accused of sexually molesting three young men, at different times since 1990 .   Police Chief Frank Fowler says an initial allegation came into the department in 2002, from Bobby Davis, a former Ballboy with the team.  Fowler says in a brief conversation, Davis told a detective he'd been molested in 1990 at Fine's home.

Syracuse Police investigating sexual abuse claims against SU assistant basketball coach

The long time assistant men’s basketball coach at Syracuse University has been placed on administrative leave, after two former team ball boys have accused him of sexual abuse.

Bernie Fine has been S.U.’s assistant basketball coach for 35 years. Former ball boy Bobby Davis, who’s now 39, told ESPN that he was molested by Fine beginning in 1984 and lasting more than 10 years.
