District attorneys around New York are still trying to clarify a recent executive order from Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The order appoints the state attorney general as a special prosecutor in cases where unarmed suspects are killed by police, or when there is a question about whether a suspect was armed or not.  Earlier this week Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced the first such case he would take on.

Onondaga County’s top public prosecutor isn’t entirely on board with some proposals to make the grand jury process more transparent.

New York's chief judge has proposed that records of now secret grand jury proceedings be released when nobody is charged. He’s also called for direct judicial oversight when police are investigated for killings or felony assaults.

An Onondaga County grand jury has returned a 37-count indictment against the Cicero man accused of raping a 10-year old girl and stabbing a Liverpool woman to death last month.
