Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s championing of strict new gun control laws in New York state has taken a toll on his popularity. A new poll finds that for the first time since taking office, Cuomo’s approval rating has dropped significantly.
Democratic congressional candidate Dan Maffei and incumbent Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle head into the fall campaign in a statistical tie, two years after Republican Buerkle unseated Maffei by only 648 votes.
Voters across New York state will go to the polls today to vote for or against their local school budgets. This is the first vote since the state imposed a cap on how much local districts can raise the tax levy.
