Hanna invites Long Island congressman to upstate New York

Republican Rep. Richard Hanna (R-Barneveld) says that while he's moderate, he's willing to listen and talk to more conservative politicians and citizens. Hanna is being challenged in a primary in New York's 22nd Congressional District, which represents an area from Binghamton to Utica, and westward to Pulaski.

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, who has tea party support, is hoping to unseat him, saying he's not conservative enough. But Hanna says he's always willing to listen, even if he doesn't always agree.

As Primary Day approaches, Tenney continues calls for debate

There are less than three weeks to go until primary day, and Claudia Tenney, who is running for Congress in a Republican primary against 22nd Congressional District Republican Richard Hanna, continues to push for a debate with her opponent.

In Vestal and Clinton Wednesday afternoon, Tenney, who currently serves as a state assemblywoman, says she has challenged Hanna to several debates in recent weeks throughout the district, which stretches from the Mohawk Valley to Pulaski and from Binghamton to Utica.

Rep. Richard Hanna recently made the announcement that he will be running for a third term in Congress. But the Republican, who represents the 22nd Congressional District, covering all or part of eight counties stretching from Utica to Binghamton, will have at least two primary opponents to deal with before November's general election.

Watertown primary decides city council candidates, draws few voters

Four of the six candidates running for Watertown City Council, including the race's two incumbents, are moving on to the general election in November, following Tuesday's primary election.

Incumbent candidates Teresa Macaluso and Jeffrey Smith took the top two spots, with 575 and 454 votes, respectively. Challenger Stephen Jennings also had a strong showing, falling only two votes shy of Smith. Cody Horbacz also moves on to the November election.

Jasmine Borreffine and Rodney LaFave received the lowest totals and were eliminated from the race.
