School District Faces Lawsuit for Allegedly Failing to Protect Gay Student

Syracuse, NY – The New York Civil Liberties Union has filed a federal lawsuit against the Mohawk Central School District in Herkimer County -- alleging that school officials failed to protect a 14-year old gay student.
For almost two-years, the plaintiff, identified only as Jacob, said he has faced relentless harassment, physical abuse and even death threats. Listen to this interview with the Civil Liberties Union attorney Corey Stoughton.

Otis Jennings Releases Education Plan

Syracuse, NY – Republican Syracuse mayoral candidate Otis Jennings supports the "Say Yes to Education" program that encourages city school kids to do well with the promise of a free college education.
But with only half of all city school student graduating, Jennnings says there should also be an emphasis on preparing some kids for the skilled trades.

New Yorkers Urged to Donate Blood

Blood donations are down all across the state. August is usually a challenging time for the blood supply because schools are out of session and people are away on summer vacation.
