DEC: Oswego County Netting Anglers

Oswego, NY – 2010 was a good year for the number one tourist attraction in Oswego County-- fishing. That's one finding of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's 2010 report on the Lake Ontario fishery.

As WRVO's Joyce Gramza reports, the county netted more anglers and the anglers caught a whole lot more steelheads, but fewer salmon, than in years past.

Local Reaction to Death of bin Laden

Oswego, NY – Lots of people stayed up very late to hear the news of the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. counter-terrorism forces. Some of those people took to the streets.

On the SUNY Oswego campus, a large group of students gathered in a common area to hold a noisy early morning celebration. They sang the National Anthem and chanted "USA! USA!"

WRVO Honored by Associated Press and Syracuse Press Club

Oswego, NY –
WRVO has been honored by the Syracuse Press Club and the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association for stories and programs aired in 2010.

At the AP's annual awards banquet in Saratoga Springs on June 4, WRVO picked up 16 awards, including 9 first place awards. WRVO's Innovation Trail reporter Emma Jacobs was the only other person to win an AP award in the Small Market category (Emma's awards were won for her work at Binghamton's WSKG).
