Oswego, NY – Ann Marie Buerkle says health care reform is needed, but says the reform law passed last year is ineffective because it raises premiums for some customers.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that repealing the health care reform law would add more than $230-billion to the national deficit.

Buerkle questions that estimate, saying the estimate is only as good as the information used by the CBO to reach it.

She says the CBO was not given all the information needed to come to an accurate conclusion, and she believes health care reform would save money.

"I don't doubt for a minute that we can reduce the cost of health care," Buerkle says, "but we've got to do it in a wise, smart manner."

The House of Representatives was scheduled to vote on the repeal measure this week, but that vote has been postponed due to the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) this weekend in Arizona.
