Oswego, NY – The State University of New York rolled out a new report card this week to grade its progress in making SUNY -- and the state -- more competitive.
SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher talked about that and other challenges with WRVO's Joyce Gramza.
Among the grades Zimpher hands out... she says in the subject of "financial health," SUNY needs improvement. Her solution: a bill now being debated in the legislature to give SUNY more say in raising its own tuition.
Zimpher says the "rational tuition policy" has a better chance of passing than last year's attempt because it keeps the power to cap tuition hikes in Albany. The plan also has the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo.
