Fort Drum to Deploy Thousands Over the Next Month

By Elizabeth Christensen

Watertown, NY – Officials at Fort Drum say close to 4,000 troops will be deployed over the next few weeks.

About a thousand soliders from the Northern New York base were deployed recently.

They'll support Central Command in the war on terrorism.

Fort Drum spokesman Brian Hilferty says troops will also be deployed to Iraq.

For security reasons, the base will be announcing the deployments only after troops have departed.
