Cortland, NY – Smoke was visible for miles and miles after last night's fire at the Cortland County recycling plant.

The City of Cortland was blanketed in thick, malodorous smoke for much of the night.

Forty firefighters were called in to battle the blaze. One suffered a minor shoulder injury.

City officials are calling the fire one of the city worst.

About 50 tons of plastic and paper products burned.
